Claiming a dish
Put your name on something so nobody doubles up.
Claiming puts your name against a dish. The host is notified, the item leaves the unclaimed list, and other guests can see it is covered.
After you have claimed
-
You can add detail — A quantity or a note, such as enough for six, no nuts, or needs oven space on arrival.
-
You can release it — Unclaiming returns the item to the open list. No message is sent.
-
Only you and the host can change it — Other guests cannot take a claimed item from you.
Adding your own dish
On an open potluck, adding an item claims it for you in the same action. As you type the title, Daawat checks the existing list and warns you if anything overlaps. The check matches partial names in either direction, so chicken biryani will flag an existing biryani. It never stops you adding the item.
Note — If the host assigned a dish to you rather than you claiming it, the item is highlighted on your menu as yours. You can still add a note to it and still hand it back.
