Fixed amounts & sitting out
Pin what one household pays, or excuse them entirely.
Split settings, on the Costs tab and available to the host only, offers two overrides for households that should not follow the normal split.
A fixed amount
This household contributes exactly this much, whatever the method and however many people they brought.
Not chipping in
This household is left out of the split and owes nothing. They still count for food and seating.
How a fixed amount changes the maths
Fixed amounts are taken off the total first. Whatever remains is divided between the households still sharing, using the method you chose, so pinning one household changes everyone else's figure, not their own.

Omar's $20 comes off the top; the remaining $100 splits between the two households still sharing.
When the numbers do not add up
If your fixed amounts and exclusions leave part of the total uncovered, the shortfall is shown on the balances screen and again on the settle screen, so guests can see the figures do not sum to the bill. The same warning appears in reverse if the fixed amounts exceed what was spent.

Guests see their own — A fixed amount appears on the balances list marked as set by the host.

They survive household changes — If households later merge or separate, fixed amounts and exclusions move to whoever absorbed them.

Excluding every household does nothing — If nobody is left to share, the exclusions are ignored and the split runs normally.
Tip — Use a fixed amount for a guest of honour who should not pay, a household that should pay less than their headcount, or someone who brought $40 of meat and should be credited for it.
