Adding people
Three ways in — and what the "invited" badge means.
You can only invite people you are connected to. Connections are mutual. Adding someone adds you to their list too.
Three ways to connect
By phone number
Works whether or not they use Daawat. Include the country code if the number is outside your region, otherwise it will be rejected as invalid.
From your contacts
Select several at once and Daawat sorts out who is already here. Android only. Apple does not let websites read the address book, so on iPhone you add numbers by hand.
Your QR code or link
They scan or tap it and you are connected instantly, with no numbers typed by either of you.
People who have not joined yet
Adding a number that has never signed up creates a placeholder for that person, shown with a dashed ring and an invited badge.
-
They can be invited immediately — Put them on a guest list, assign them a dish, include them in the split, all before they have an account.
-
Daawat sends them nothing — Placeholders are never notified. Use the WhatsApp link on their row to nudge them yourself.
-
It joins up automatically — When they sign up with that number they take over the placeholder, and everything waiting for them appears.
