Hosting a daawat

Sharing the hosting

Let someone else run the event with you.

A cohost helps run an event. They are added from Settings on the event page, under Cohosts.

What a cohost can do

Everything you can

Edit the details, invite and remove guests, manage the menu and the checklist, add expenses, and add or remove other cohosts.

Except end it

Cancelling and deleting stay with whoever created the event.

Cohosts cannot remove the person who created the event, and that person is not listed among the cohosts. Any cohost can remove another cohost, and can step down themselves.

Accepting the role

Adding someone offers them the role rather than assigning it. They hold no host powers until they accept.

Already on the guest list

They become a cohost straight away and are notified.

Not yet on the guest list

They are invited to the event as well. Opening it shows the offer above their reply, with Accept and No thanks.

Declining removes the offer and leaves them an ordinary guest. The Cohosts list shows anyone who has not answered yet as invited.

Replies and costs

  • They reply like a guestA cohost keeps the full set of reply buttons and can answer maybe or no.

  • They are notified as a hostReplies, join requests and dish claims reach cohosts as well as the host.

  • They carry their household's billA cohost becomes the billing person for their household, ahead of anyone else in it.

Note — Removing a cohost from the guest list removes the role with it, including an offer they have not yet answered.
