Hosting a daawat

Creating a daawat

Seven quick questions. Nothing is sent until you publish.

The wizard asks seven questions. The occasion you pick first sets the defaults for the ones after it: the food arrangement, whether costs are shared, whether a checklist is created, and which cover art is offered.

  1. 1

    Occasion

Gives the event a working title like Salman's BBQ and saves a draft immediately.

  2. 2

    Name and place

Rename it if you like, then pick a saved place or drop a new pin. Your default place is already selected.

  3. 3

    Who is coming

Circles and individuals, whether an invitation reaches one person or a whole family, and how visible the event is to everyone else.

  4. 4

    When

Date and hours, an optional reply deadline, and a warning if the people you invite are already busy.

  5. 5

    Cover

A preset matched to the occasion, or your own photo.

  6. 6

    Food

Nothing, your treat, or a potluck, and if potluck, how it is organised.

  7. 7

    Money

You cover it, or the cost is shared. Sharing can be fine-tuned later from the event itself.

Drafts

The draft is created as soon as you pick an occasion, and everything after that saves as you go. Close the app at step five and nothing is lost. The next time you start a daawat you are offered the draft back, or a clean start instead. Only one draft is held at a time.

Important โ€” Nothing is sent until you tap Publish. That one action publishes the event, replies yes on your behalf, creates the checklist if the occasion calls for one, and sends every invitation.

Every answer can be changed afterwards from Edit event, with one exception: once a guest has replied or an expense exists, who the event is for is locked.
